Even though the subclass 186 visa is a permanent employer sponsored visa for Australia, you can apply for either Australian citizenship or a resident return visa only after five years of the visa ownership.

Lastly, as mentioned above, you can only apply for the subclass 187 visa with the transition stream, which means you have to work for your nominating employer for two to three years while holding a subclass 457 or 482 visas before you are able to apply for the visa.
